I'm thinking about getting one of those duck decoys with the wings that spin. I don't know whether to go electric or just wind-powered. What experiences have people had? Thanks in advance.

Ya, I recommend Baby Mojo, $75 from Lebaron... I like the modular way they have set the decoy up. You can have a remote, spare batteries, spare wings, etc... Not that you will need them, I have had no problems with my basic Baby Mojo in the last year. I did however install a decoy modulator so the wings on/off cycle can be set to whatever you want it to be.

I did however buy the FEMALE mallard as EVERYONE puts out the male decoys, be they stationary or the spinning wing type.

I highly recommend the decoy modulator even if the ducks in your area are suckers. Where I have hunted, some of the flocks circle the spread, and they will quickly figure out that your decoy is a decoy IF IT DOESN'T EVER LAND... The modulator is easy install and has way better time settings than some others. I just turn on the decoy and let it do it's thing, friggen with an on and off switch/remote is a major pain in the a$$, so don't do it, you don't need a remote for the decoy, you'll only drop it in the water or loose it or the battery will die...

Steps to happy duck killing...
(1) buy baby mojo
(2) install decoy modulator
(3) HUNT!!!

Other things... I have never ever run out of battery power with the baby mojo, I've let it run 16 hours STRAIGHT!!! So my recommendation is to stay away from wind powered one's.

Also, the pole for the decoy is kinda short unless you hunt in ankle deep water... I went to the hardware store, bought a 4 foot piece of square tubing, I can't remember the size, just bring your pole with you. I then drilled a hole for the retaining pin and bingo, I can hunt in depths up to chest deep.

Cheers
Jay

I bought what they call the Lucky Duck from SIR and it works okay, but a wing rattled off the shaft last year and I had to repair that.

My remote is really inconsistent too, doesn't always turn the motor off.

Others are fond of Mojo ducks.
