Any reputable gunsmiths who do spiral fluting on an existing barrel in CANADA? Thanks for any help & info!

So you're telling me that no gunsmiths in CANADA can do helical/spiral fluting on an existing barrel? Not even straight fluting?(I prefer the spiral).

I think he was telling you it is best done at the barrel maker before he final laps the barrel ... fluting basically is cosmetic - but that is why you want spiral ... accuracy will never increase.

Keep searching I am sure someone will hook you up...

I know corlanes does fluting, their price list says $275 but didn't say straight it spiral but further down the list it says they spiral flute bolts... Might be worth a call

My .338 has spiral flutes. It was built by ATRS but I don't know who did that barrel. I know its a benchmark.

PM me and I'll tell you the original owner's name - and I'm sure ATRS can tell you from there.

If you can pull the barrel off yourself, you should be able to get any decent machine shop to cut that with a ball mill. Once it's a barrel, it's just a pipe and no special license would be required as opposed to handing a receiver with serial number. Just an idea. Might open up your options a bit!

I believe Gunboy on here has posted a few pics of barrels he has done. Perhaps contact him. - dan

I fluted Gunboy's barrels. He and I used to work together.

We did straight flutes, some spiral and some spiral with steps, shallower closer to the chamber.

I have a 4 axis mill but it would have to pay really well to be worth doing.
