Spitzer bullet in 30-30?

I tried Hornady 150gr Interlocks in a Stevens 325A but the magazine length compromised powder space significantly. I think the FTX is probably a better choice than traditional spitzer designs in this use case but don't care about the rifle enough to bother dicking around with it, plain old 150gr flat nose loads shoot just fine.

125gr Sierra SPT & 130Grain Hornady SP worked well for accuracy with IMR 4198 & H322 in both a marlin 336 & Nef 30-30. Sending them around 2650 fps if I remember correctly.

My 30-30 Ruger #1 works fantastical with 150 flat base Interlocks and LVR powder, many MOA groups at 200 yards, just not sure if they are going fast enough to open up properly, mite use it for whitetail this year!

I have loaded 150s. 1 + 1. The OAL has to be watched. If the round is too long it will not feed from the mag.

I had a bucket of milsurp 147 g FMJ pointy bullets. I loaded them upside down. They made great 50 yard plinkers. Punched wad cutter type holes, too.

It's not a spitzer but Speer 110 grain hollow point Varminter. 27.3 grains IMR 4198 gave about 2530 fps.
Winchester M94 and 20 inch barrel. You are going to have to play with the cannelure to find your sweet spot. It's probably not going to jive with that crimp groove.
But was pretty darn accurate 100 yards.
Low recoil too. Novices loved it. No problem thru the magazine.

As Ganderite says, it works if you watch the col and keep them stubby. No dreams of 170-180 grain spitzers. In a Marlin 30as/336, they will load into the side loading port, but will lock up the gun trying to lift up to go into the chamber, and if you single load, make sure they'll clear the ejection port. In any event, if you lock up the gun all you need is a flat screwdriver, remove the lever, push hammer down and bolt out the back.

I tried 130 gr Hornady Spire pts in a 30-30 Sav model 99 with a rotary magazine. They fed and shot just fine. Worked pretty good on whitetails but I think I limited my shots to broadside lung shots. It flattened out the trajectory a little but its still a 30-30. I had a low powered scope on that old 99 and it was pretty accurate. I cant see anyone gaining much effective range with a course sighted 94 but whatever floats your boat

Well a 7.62x39 and a 123 PRIVI SP dropped a moose for my buddies daughter two falls ago. Decent penetration.
