Unfired with split neck. Safe to shoot or better discard?

I wouldn't.
It is unlikely you will be harmed (assuming you are wearing some sort of eye protection) but it will at a minimum dirty up your chamber and bolt, at a maximum possibly damage the inside of the chamber (though that is fairly remote). Either way it may throw some gas back in your face.

put some jb weld over it, let it cure then sand it smooth then you can fire it :):) <--- that's a joke, but i wonder if it would work, not likely.

as LUTNIT said the worst case is some gas blow back and damage to the chamber, but it's not going to blow the gun up and kill you like maynard seems to think.

if it's just the one i would pull the bullet and reuse it else where assuming you reload then burn the powder for fun.

I showed my dad this pic and asked him since he has been shooting longer than ive been alive.

He said he would shoot it in a bolt gun but not in a semi.

That crack is meandering past the shoulder so wicked blowback. What purpose would it serve to chamber it other than to test a theory? Pitch it.
