Hi everyone. I also attended a meeting with my MP a while back and managed to get the wheels rolling, and I will post the entire story if and when I get that plastic card with my ugly mug on it. Anyway, I spoke with a very nice lady at the Ontario CFO and she said that my application was sent to them from Miramichi, and that is pretty much the last step in the process. She also said something about them conducting background checks. Isn't this conducted by the RCMP in Miramichi? Does this mean more more interviews, paperwork, etc? Just wondering... And thanks in advance.

Yes, the RCMP will do a background check as well as hold your application for the mandatory 28 days.

Unfortunately in Ontario, the CFO has a policy of running their own checks. They will also review any restricted transfer as well.

Just hope you don't become a "person of interest" because then they will review all transfers. (Even non-rest.)

Is it 28 days from when Miramichi received it? Because that would be this Friday.

Forgot this: What makes one a "person of interest"?

Yeah the RCMP time starts after they get the package sent by you that has your application, photo and stamped test results that were just officially scrutinized by the ON CFO.

To become a person of interest all you need is either:

a) a certified tester that ends up under investigation by the CFO.
b) a f&$@k up family member that ends up in jail. (can't pick your relatives)

Not sure which one of these 2 are the reason why they insist on holding my file (yet) Maybe both for all I know.

My advice is do not end up on their radar unless you are okay with waiting a bit longer than most for anything.

My friend got questioned extensively by the Ontario CFO. What reason? We still aren't sure. But they redid all his reference interviews.

To the Ontario CFO :nest: , "review" is code for "sit on the approval for several weeks unless otherwise prompted, all while really doing nothing"....:(

This is a warning about the Ontario CFO. At least one of their AFO in the Ottawa area is re-doing the CFC interviews. She is also asking more probing questions, and requesting medical forms "just for her files". Requesting that form without a valid reason is an invasion of your privacy. Don't stand for it.

That doesn't sound ok

A friend of a friends horse told me that a few testers were passing people who didn't actually take the courses or pass tests, and that's why Ontario CFO checks the exam marks themselves.

I take my RPAL course this weekend and will post my timeline as others have done. I will not send in my application until I get my exam marks back and can send everything at once (by registered letter of course). I don't expect to get my license before December.
