Sport Skeet

Several years ago I shot several rounds of Modern Skeet.

Like this but with machines that oscillate vertically. IIRC, station 8 was a true pair, shooting low as an incomer and high as a retreating target, which could be anywhere from the height of the low house window and diving to the ground to in the clouds.

The gentlemen who owned the club said he had never seen a 25, so no hats are harmed in this game.

What a fun game. Would love to do it again.

Sometimes, when there's not enuff shooters, the few of us will shoot all true pairs on the skeet field. even on St # 8, with a single low left. Like to stay on 3, 4, 5 and 8 sometimes too, shoot 3 hi singles, then 3 low...last shot trappers choice !

All in good fun and practice

I use skeet for practise for upland hunting so me and my hunting pal and my son shoot all doubles starting from low gun.🙂

Haha, allowing up to 3 seconds to pull will totally screw up the dedicated skeet shooters. Delaying even one second will cause those guys to refuse the target. A good way to find out who your friends are I suppose! 😂

My buddies have been mixing up the skeet format to make it more interesting for years, im surprised something like this hasn’t caught on sooner.

the 3 second delay has been in olympic skeet for 50-60 years

Is that so, I've never shot Olympic skeet.

The 3 second rule has been in sporting clays for many years but a lot of shooters don't even know that, at least I'm assuming it still is. I've seen a few guys pull a target a bit late and the shooter refuses the bird and wants another. By the regulations it's a lost bird but it's almost never enforced, just another reason I quit shooting registered sporting a number of years ago, too many shooters have no idea what the rules are.

For a while, Silver Willow had the skeet range set up for someone practicing for Olympic Skeet. I went down and put my card in the machine and launched a few targets from the card reader.

I laughed and Laughed!!!! Then I went home. Geezuz!!!!

i have been shooting registered trap and skeet targets since 1973 ish
when i started shooting olympic style skeet in the 80's the 3 second delay and gun down was already being utilized

We have started throwing Olympic skeet at our club ,55mph vs 50 with the delay quite impressed with some of the shooters and I thought mallards were fast....
