Don't know if it will fit, but it is legal to install a short barrel if it was manufactured at that length and not chopped to it. There are no barrel length limits for a manual action centerfire, so go to it.
i can't remember off hand if it is 18 or 18.5 inches is the shortest a person can legally cut down a barrel too .
now you can legally buy a brand new manufactured barrel shorter than this and install it on your rifle .... i don't know how short you can go doing this and keep it nonrestricted .
18" (actually 457mm) is the shortest a barrel can be cut to. Since OP's rifle is a manual action, it simply must be over 26" (660mm) to remain non-restricted. Shouldn't be a problem staying over 26" if it still has a stock on it.
