Sporter Enfield front sight broke..

Not sure where to post this, but..

Had my sportered No 4 MK 1* leaning against the wall and it fell and the front sight blade broke.. have no idea where to get a replacement? I've never had another Enfield so I can't tell if this is the original front sight or not. The barrel is marked ''Sussex"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It is not the original Lee Enfield front sight. It is probably impossible to trace an original Sussex part, but it is not a rare style of hunting rifle sight, so you will probably be able to find something similar in current production or at a gun show or an old-fashioned gunsmith's shop.

What did the old sight look like?
Measurement of the dovetail would be a start.

"Sussex" was a conversion from the Number 4, as you know.

They were done by Parker-Hale which now, unfortunately, is out of business.

The dovetail should be a standard dimension; a replacement should be available from any gunsmith.

if you can find one good look I broke one years ago. dove tail is not a common size after about 4 years of trying to find one gave it to my brother.I did make up a few out of teflon but they didn't seem to last
