The June 25 shoot is cancelled. DND needed the range.
However, the good news is that dates confirmed for Sporting Rifle (Vintage) now include;
July 10 Winona (near Hamilton/Grimsby)
July 17 Amiens (Camp Borden)
Aug 14 Amiens
Sept 4 Winona
This shoot originated as an opportunity to dust off our old Mausers, Lee Enfields, etc, and have a good day of shooting.
But it has evolved into bringing whatever rifle we want to take to the range. This is often hunting rifles, SKS, VZ58s, and AR-15s. We are re-naming the shoot “Sporting Rifle”.
The course of fire is about 40 rounds (with the sighters) at 100, 200 and 300 yards. At each distance we start off with 5 minutes of zeroing, to make sure you are zeroed or know where to aim. We shoot 10 shots deliberate, 10 shots snap (3 second exposures) and 10 shots at a moving target.
There is no magazine requirement. I have shot it with a single shot rifle. In the Snap and Mover there is time to load another round between exposures.
100 is shot standing. 200 and 300 are shot prone, off a rest. Kids and newbies can shoot the 100 prone, if they prefer.
Send me a pm with your name and email address, and I will add you to the mailing list.
