Turning 70 this summer and my daughter wants to buy me something "nice" for my birthday. I've been a shooter and handloader for more than 50yrs. Never had a spotting scope although I have used them in the past teaching marksmanship to Army Cadets. She has 500 dollars in her budget. I would feel better about something in the 300-350 range. Most shooting at 50 or 100 yds. We now have a 200 yd range which I haven't used yet. Suggestions??

Thanks

I would suggest Celestron. They make nice useable units for lower pricing. Just try the eyepiece if possible. The bodies are usually decent but the eyepieces can be where they save money.

The 82/85mm units typically work better as it is easier to make a nice sweet spot on a bigger lense.

Good luck.

Jerry
