I'm in the market to upgrade my spotting scope. I currently have a cheap NCSTAR which is not making me happy.

My range goes out to 200 yards, so that's the max distance I would need to clearly see targets. Majority of my time is currently on the 25/50y range with pistols, but I'd like to spot out to the 200 yards when I venture over there with my rifles.

My first stab at it, I like the Bushnell Trophy 20-60x65 ($220), would this achieve what I'm looking for out to 200 yards? or would bumping up to the Bushnell Legend HD 20-60x80 ($430) do it? Trying to not break the bank here.

I've also looked at the Vortex Viper 15-45x65 ($500) but this is at the extreme end of my budget and hoping a bit of overkill for just out to 200yards. For the Vortex line, the Nomad 20-60x60 ($340) is more in my price range.

Anyone care to give some advice or maybe other options of decent spotting scopes I could look at?

WSS has the Leupold Sequoia with case and tripod on sale for $349.

Minox MD50 16-36x50mm, angled or straight eyepiece versions from site sponsor Cameraland NY US$299.99, or from thesportsmansguide.com for US$269.99. CameralandNY may still have some demo units for US$219.99. Also watch the EE for older scopes of good name, e.g. Bausch & Lomb. It's less common than with riflescopes, but people do upgrade from perfectly serviceable spotting scopes from time to time.
