I'm looking for a spotting scope and I can't decide what one to choose. It's just for the range I shoot out to 500m right now. These are the ones I'm looking at Pentax PF-80 ED or Kowa TSN - 664 XD or should I just save up for the Kowa TSN - 880 or the Pentax PF-100. I would like to be able to see 30cal bullet holes at 500m. Any advise will be helpful I don't current own one and never used a quality spotting scope.

None of the scopes above will allow you to see .30 cal bullets holes at 500 yards, at least not in the black part of the target. I have a Kowa TSN-1 the only time I can see bullet holes at 300 yards is if the sun is behind the target with almost zero wind. Once a little bit of wind picks up and the mirage starts running even these hits will disappear. Any of the scopes above would be a good choice for seeing an orange or white spotting disc on a black target out to 1000 yards.
