I am looking at picking up a spotting scope, I want to use it for long range shooting (308, 223), likley mostly at the range, but some off range. Not too fussy about weight/size as long as it fits in a day pack. I have zero experience with these, I am looking at spending about $300. I was looking at the Bushnell Legend 20-60x60 it seemed ok? Does anyone have experience with this product? Any info/advise, past experiences, on spotting scopes would be apprecited.
Thanks

What Distance?

How long is the range you're shooting at? If it's out to 200 yards, your budget is low. Most spotters in the lower price range won't give you great clarity at 200 yards, although they will be o.k. at 100 yards.

The Bushnell wasn't clear at 200 yds +, neither was the Celestron at twice the price. So I decided to save up for a better quality scope and now have a Pentax PF-65ED II 65 mm. Excellent quality.

Hopes this helps.

I was looking to use it from 200- 500 yards. From the sounds of it, If I am looking at that range I should wait, save, and get something a bit higher quality.
