Spotting scope recommendations for long distance mirage reading

I'm looking to upgrade my spotting scope for the upcoming FTR shooting season.

I want one that can sit beside me on the line allowing me to observe mirage downrange in between shots.

I know you largely get what you pay for. So while I'm not looking for the basement I can't afford the penthouse.

I'll be prone and not looking to move much from my rifle once I get settled in so an angled eye piece is necessary.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

ST

Not only an angled eye piece, you also need a good scope stand for prone shooting. There are a bunch of scope stands out there that work well and allow you to snuggle the scope in where you need it without bumping it every time you move on the firing point.
In order to really see what the mirage is doing you should focus the scope about 1/3 the distance to the target. I also like a wide angle eye piece, at 1000 yards I can see 10 targets. This helps you see trends that are happening. Remember you can use the information from all the target you can see, not just yours.
I have a Kowa TSN-1 with a 22X wide angle on a Freeland scope stand.
