I need a spotting scope, primarily for the range, but will take it into the field a bit too.
For spotting targets out to 400 yds, is there anything around the 400$ range that can do the job without straining the eyes? (example, how much magnification do you need to spot .223 hits on an 8" paper pie plate at 400 yds?) I'm a fair weather shooter, (at the range, that is), if that makes a difference.
I am guessing an angled eyepiece is best...
