SPRA Programs and Matches

Any weekend from May to end of Sept, not scheduled as a match weekend, is a PRACTICE weekend

SPRA matches are held from May to September at the SPRA North Star range 6 miles east of Nokomis at ranges of 300 to 1000 yards. The range now has 1100 and 1200 yard firing points. Classifications exist in all rifle types so you are shooting against others of like abilities. Rifle types are TR (Sling with peep sights), FTR (308 or 223 with a scope, supported) and FOpen (all other calibers with a scope supported). Please click on event for more information.

Our first shoot of the year is the Open House. We are going to make this a big deal for our 150+ new members that we signed up this winter! We would like as many of our experienced shooters to come out and help get the new shooters on target. We would like them to feel welcomed and motivated so they will keep coming back.
We are trying to put together a few door prizes for this event . We also want to provide them with as much information as possible for their shooting needs.
We are going to create a list of gunsmiths and dealers for them so they have a network of knowledgable people they can rely on if they are interested in building or updating their equipment so that they can compete.
I realize it is a pipe dream that we will get all the 150 shooters to show up, but even if a quarter of them shows up and a handful of them keeps coming back we could call it a success. If it works, we will be looking at scheduling more shoots like that to help promote our sport.
Any feedback or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
