Anyone familiar with Springfield Trophy Match. I know the where abouts of one at a fair price. Two boxes of ammo through it. Never had a Springfield 1911 so don't know much about them 'cept it sure is purdy. Opinnions???

From past experience, ask lots of questions before buying a Springfield. I've had problems with every single one I've owned and sold each of them thereafter at a loss, simply because I didn't want the prospective buyer to get screwed over. SA has had major quality control issues the past few years, and while they will fix defects, the cost of shipping pistols, long delays waiting for repairs, often multiple times, made my decision to avoid SA products from now on, an easy one. I'll grant you, they look pretty, but when you take into account the fact that most of the major parts are now cast in Brazil, for the money, there are better products out there.

I have two Springers: a 1911A1 Loaded, and the Springer I put together using a Mil Spec Slide. Both of these are great shooters and they will hold their own with just about any 1911A1 that I have shot. After shooting my Dan Wesson 10mm Commander, I would also give Dan Wesson a long look. All the Springfield 1911's I've handled have been fine. I own two and have shot about 6 or 7 others. None have had any problems, and all have been fine to shoot. (My target model shoots awesome groups). I haven't shot a trphy match yet, but I imagine it will be fine. If you can, try it out first before you buy. But I do recommend the Springfields.

I had bought a brand new SA Trophy Match 2 years ago and right out of the box it was trouble, it jammed within the first few rounds, didn't even get a full mag of hardball and it jammed. Found out that was the mag, so I used my Wilson SS mags that solved the problem, however my ejector broke after a 100 rounds. SA replaced it after a 3 week wait. Then the front sight fell off. I could go on an on. I sold it after 6 months.

I had a S H I T-load of problems with the "Holy Grail" of 1911A1 pistols. Yes, that is correct, I bought a like new Series 70/like new Ace 22 Conversion Unit and neither ever did work for me. I gave up on 1911A1s until I bought a Norinco 1911A1; the fricken 'rinco has never missed a beat! Go figure. Regards, Richard:D
