Has the season opened yet? How is everything going there, guys? We still have a bit snow in the mountains here.

No doubt it's a little too early, but I plan on getting out on Friday and maybe Saturday. If nothing else, it gives me a reason to go walk around in the woods with a gun. ;)

im very south ab
Its snowed here the last couple days but if it warms up they'll be all over the mountains (their kinda like gophers)

I was out last Saturday looking for bear sign, but there is still quite a bit of snow in the foothills in southern Alberta. No bears out on Saturday. Oh well, got a little bit of gopher action in... shooting the poor little buggers on the snow makes a guy realize how much damage a 22-250 does to these critters!

re

huntsman i spend alot of time hunting in that general area but I would recommend that you make theh extra 40 min drive to swan hills and head west north or south of thier or if you already booked at the hotel in the fort hunt in between the fort and swanhills as it is way better for spot and stalk that way then north or east of the fort.

I was in the Porcupine hills this weekend. HAPPY EASTER. Lots of snow still. Bushes are just starting to bud out. No bears, No Sign, No Activitiy besides Deer, Elk, Yote, and Turkeys. I walked about 8 miles, did some calling. It's just too early yet. Further south might have some opportunities. At this rate, it will mid May before we see any bears.

Spot and stalk won't work in this area untill there is healthy green growth. The chances of seeing a bear on snow covered lines is about 0% IMHO

hey republic wow way to jump on a guys back for trying to help did you look when he was going up??????? the end of may unless its gonna be retardedly cold tell then there should be lotsa green for the bears to munch on.

Hey Thanks ABHUNTER, No hotels..tents. The fella I'm going with says he see's lots of bears when dirt bike'n up there?
We might cross the river and go in 10 or so miles past...so I'm told?
But like I said, 3 days is pushing it.
Cheers

AB hunter, looks like I am an ass hole... end of May will be a good time.

And for being an ass hole here is a tip for all....try hunting the creeks on lakes with suckers. The spring sucker run is a sure way to get a bear.
