Three more weeks until my first snow goose hunt in Saskatchewan. Myself and two friends from southern Ontario will be meeting up in Calgary and driving out to Lucky Lake. Can't wait. Anyone ever been spring hunting for snow geese? We are going out with an outfitter.

Good luck. Hope you slaughter them. The birds had made it as far north as Nebraska and starting into South Dakota as of last week but I suspect this last wintery blast has held them up. There was close to 2 million staged on Squaw Creek(MO) just a few days prior to hitting Nebraska and SoDak.

I have seen a few Canadas down here, but no snows yet. Seems when they come in the spring they stop overnight and are on the go again. Makes them pretty hard to hunt.

I'll be going to lucky lake outfitter and I've heard good things about the spring goose hunt in western Saskatchewan. They are right on the path of one of the major flyways. So I hope it is worth the trip.

I've been hunting spring snows for several years now and its a hoot (just got back from a hunt on Sunday). Keep in mind they are miserable white SOBs and are very hit and miss. Hunting with an experienced outfitter will up your odds but they are still going to do what they do. There is NOTHING like a tornado of snows descending upon you. Chances are it'll be muddy and weather will be moody. Take waders if you have them, I use them a lot hunting tundra maggots. Be forewarned, it is very addictive . Good luck, hope you get into em.

Thanks for the advise. I am counting the days for this trip. I know that when dealing with Mother Nature you pay your money and take your chances. I hope we get to shoot at some. I will post some pics if it works out. At least report back on how it all worked out. One of the guys coming out from TO actually got me to buy him a new Browning A5 because he couldn't find one in hog town. So we are all hoping nature is a little cooperative.

Good luck on the hunt! over here in Quebec they arrived about 3 days ago. It seems like they all arrived at the same time, i spotted about 15 fields with what seems to be thousands (completely covered over a 500m area) each time and they seem to be flying in every which direction. We brought our guns and a few decoys while spotting and sofar we got 20 in 2 days! Tomorrow is the big day with the 300+ decoys and electronic calls. Ill post pics if we have a massacre

Just got a report from a guy in Lethbridge area he said that the snows are on the ice of some lakes by the 1000s. I think I should be ok for my hunt next week in Saskatchewan. Can't wait!
