I picked up a nice 1903A3 barrel to put on an already sporterized 1903 action it is a two groove. What is the accuracy like compared to multi grooved barrels ? I'm talking hunting not target.It appears new and never installed.

Out to 300 yards you will not be able to tell the difference between either of them.

I remember SIR has these NIB 40 years ago..............supposed to be better with cast than the 4 groove?

They supposedly shoot better with the bore rider type molds like lyman 311332 or 311334.

I found mine to be accurate but with a tendency to metal foul. I have seen two groove barrels, on some Parker Hale rifles, which had two more grooves cut into them. The extra grooves were not quite as wide as the others. They seemed to shoot fine.

Lot of two groove Lee Enfields out there that are very accurate.

Suggest you pm OldRanger - he's been shooting cast out of his rebarreled 1903 for years..

It's virgin marked RA 02-44 so Remington Arms February 1944?
