Hi,

I'm looking at buying a 1911 .45ACP and would like to know your opinion on the SA 1911 GI model. I know someone that is ready to sell it and would like to know how much worth this model in very good condition with extra mag?

Also, is a Springfield Armory 1911 GI is lot better than a Norc?

Thanks for your help guys!

6-700 bucks in near new to new condition. That being said, I think its a great pistol. Never sell mine, as good a replica of a GI pistol as any other (maybe the Colt repro is more "authentic", but the SA is a solid pistol). Just my opinion.

a Brazilian made SA GI aprox 550-650 of course price depend on condition - a milspec could ad more money on the deal
personally I'd like to find one made in US of A....

The milspec used is worth about 600-650 and is a nice improvement over the gi, and I am no norc hater but both are huge improvements over norcs.

The springfields are nice, you won't be disappointed as long as the price tag isn't cazy. I would say it fit and finish will be better than the norc for sure.

I've had a SA Mil-spec GI for a few years now, excellent gun, trigger is a little heavy, my 70 series Colt is much nicer.
I was told before I bought the SA that they don't like lead, which was completely true. It would feed jacketed bullets all day long but would start to FTF on lead bullets after about 40 rounds, give it a cleaning and it was good for another 40 or so. Wilson Combat mags cured the problem.

Mine had a slight break-in period. Of course I first got it during winter so that didn't help. Now it is very reliable. Not gonna sell this piece any time soon.

I have a Brazilian mil spec and love it. I paid 650+/- on the EE. If colts came parkerized Id buy a colt. Even with a trigger job and tuning I was never happy with my norc.

Springfields are a gem that everyone forgets about.

Iirc the price between the two is approx 100 new, the milspec seems more common to find for sale used. I have one of each, the milspec has a few modern type upgrades but I like both pistols equally. The rumor is that Springfield has discontinued the GI.
