Ive always loved 1911's ...Ive had maybe 7 different models through out the years, and love them. Recently Ive been jerking off to the fully Tac'd out Springfield Armory TRP .45 in Black teflon, with ambi safety, and factory night sights. Sooooo f@ckn bad@$$ ....is like the TRP Professional .45 but without the 3K price tag...its about half.

Anybody own a TRP? ...Thoughts?

I love my Colts to death, Series 70 Repro, stainless & blued Ive owned, XSE Stainless, Government 1991 .45 currently, never owned a Commander length, always Government Model

Les Baer SRP Commanchi would be my wet dream...or a Wilson Combat CQB Compact in OD green frame and black slide. Google Les Baer SRP Commanchi and look in awe of this breath taking lethal work of art....absolutley gorgeous.

But it my price range....a Springfield TRP is pushing it...$1,750 all in is pushing it....funny, I bought the MARK 23 twice lol....needed money, sold it....missed it, bought it again....jez...

What to do, what to do...

I have the TRP in black "armory kote" and it is is very nice 1911. Some people feel the stippling on the front of the grip is too aggressive but I have not found this to be the case.

If you are thinking of using it for IPSC Classic division avoid the model with the accessory rail.

I love the stippling on the front strap grip and mainspring housing...one of the reasons I love the TRP. I also love the factory blackish greyish grips too, G10 synthetic grips I believe ?

Its just an all together, fully loaded tactical 1911, with night sights, I love the rollmarks too...very tasteful and have the Tacticool factor lol.

I owned the Springfield 1911 Loaded stainless, an OD green GI model, and a black Mil-Spec model. They were all great pistols, but they slowly faded out to a stable full of Colt's ;)

The Springfield TRP Professional Model .45 FBI contract gun has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine....I love the all black look including Nowlin barrel by ejection port, and the contrast with the cocobolo walnut grips.

I Think its good to have a couple 1911's. A traditional 1911A1 design of WW2 era, and a modern Tactical 1911 with night sights and other modern features.

The Springfield TRP is just a gorgeous tactical 1911 fully loaded with a solid durable finish to boot

IRunGuns has 2 TRP black models in stock...and are on sale for around $1,570.00 USD . The Canadian dollar is nearly on par with the US dollar right now. I exchanged some a week ago....$50 USD is $56 CDN ....and $200 USD I paid $224 CDN ....from TD bank.

There is no such thing as too many 1911s... unless perhaps you are trying to swim.

Mine has the reddish wood double diamond grips for a more traditional look.

I held the stainless one at Wanstalls last week and it was pretty sweet too.

You'll never look back, I've had colt 1911's since I started shooting hand guns, love them, and will continue to buy them, but since I've gotten my trp's those are the ones I grab when ever I head to the range. I've been after a pro for sometime but it's always been out of my reach. Some one mentioned the front checkering on the front of the grip, it is a little aggressive I find but not uncomfortable to handle, find it really nice with gloves.

Cheers

Niiice ;) gorgeous pair of Springfields youve got there. Yes, a PRO model would be a perfect addition to your nice little collection there.

I also like the stainless model, but the black model looks so serious and pure business. I think the black TRP is one of the best tactical 1911s money can buy. Colts version of the TRP I guess would be the XSE Government Model .45 ...but lacking the factory trijicon night sights.

I would have to get 5 Wilson Combat 47D 8-round stainless magazines for it...1 in the gun, and 2 double mag pouches on my belt, and an IWB Galco concealed horse hide leather holster. But damn a fully loaded 1911 with 4 spare mags are HEAVY AS $!&#. try to imagine carry all day long....now I know why they make "lightweight" models with aluminum frame.

My fully loaded Beretta M9 feels like its half the weight, but much more "fat" grip wise. The 1911 is so slim and easy to carry in a IWB concealable holster...just a heavy SOB.

I cant wait to get my NIB Springfield Armory TRP .45 Auto in black ArmourKote finish, its just everything you can ask for in a tactical 1911. The Trijicon factory night sights are really a good bonus I think. VERY essential in a tactical carry 1911 for those night time encounters.

A fully charged 8-round Wilson mag, and 1 in the pipe.....9 rounds of Hornady +P 230 grain JHP @ 950 fps is more than you could ask for? 4 spare magazines in double mag pouches, would put a 9mm to shame IMHO.

If it has "Colt" or "Springfield" written on the side, then you are probably good to go. I agree, you cannot have too many 1911's - especially quality ones. Some folks believe that the TRP may be the best production 1911 out there. I don't know if I would go that far, but I am sure that it will be a 1911 that is hard to beat. I know that I have tried to beat my Colt with a number of other 1911's and haven't yet found one that will shoot alongside it - at least in my hands. Everyone's mileage may vary.

+1

One would be hard pressed to do better in the 1911 dept.
