What are your opinions as a backpacker's gun? Saw one at Target Sports with a nice handy soft carrying case. It is a .410/.22lr combo. Wondering if I am better off getting a new Chiappa M6 20Ga/.22lr when it is available in Canada again?

I have one in .22LR/.410 and it is my favourite backpacker/survival firearm. If you prefer 20 ga, which is potentially handy for slug use, I’d recommend the Savage 24 in .22LR/20 ga, preferably the Campers Companion (short barrel) if you can find it. Both of these are highly collectible.

Depends what your planned use is. I will say (not surprisingly) short barrelled shotguns including the two I just mentioned are very loud.

If you want a contemporary version, TPS Arms Inc. makes a clone of the M6 in a variety of flavours available in Canada through iRunguns.

I also have a Savage 24 in 20ga/.22lr and it is another favorite of mine.

Original M6 is a nice gun, but the asking price is rarely reasonable... SO I think it depends on how much you want to spend. Both guns you are considering are not light, but 20ga is heavier.
