Hi

just wanted to say that springfield armory will ship muzzle brakes to Canada

there was some doubtfulness as to whether the muzzle brake could be shipped, however

this just arrived this morning !

thanks Pblatzz for the advice

"...some doubtfulness..." As daft as the whole thing is, if the box says M1A on it, there's no exporting problem. Not so if it says M-14.
The pliers part of it or did you have to pay extra? That the box it came in? Pricey shipping container. Explains SA's prices. Just curious.

usps for $ 14.75

they sent it on the 26th sept

takes couple days and comes in a plain brown box with description as a stabilizer kit

total was 101.00

i thought i'd post this just cause there is such a grey area in what can come across the boarder ... and maybe it'll help others

by the way.. it doesn't come with a castle nut ! which i'll need as i'm changing the barrel...so I had to order one from brownells... but apparently springfield carries them but for some reason i couldn't find it in the online store ..... Doh!!!

actually the description was just " stabilizer kit " ...very brief
pliers were part of the kit

and the plastic box was with in the brown card board box.. so, it was very well packed !

the brake fits my criterion barrel with no play, so far it exactly what i wanted

no set screw .. but it did come with 3 allen keys

i bought my set screws and front sight from brownells

my friggin norc flash hider was on there like the devil ... those spot welds were really well done on mine ( 4lb hammer and drift with 10 hard knocks to take it off )

barrel is off now

... i'll post some pic's later .. haveta get back to work

here some pic's of my adventure

clamped the barrel in my homemade barrel vise

I made sure to spray some seafoam deep creep on the barrel and let it sit for awhile ( been using that for awhile and it occasionally works real good )

put my lite twist wrench on there and it came off nicely

Here is a pic of the barrel set screw that you have to take out before twisting off the barrel... i used a fine diamond abrasive bit in my flexshaft and nibbled out all the staked/punch in side ... then put some seafoam creep on it and went at it in 1/2 hour... with some back n forthing, it came out

well.. when i got the barrel off, the only thing that bugged me was that there was some abrasive grit in the acme threads of the barrel.... seems like some remnants of sandblasting prior to park ? either way that should never be in there

Now i wait for my castlenut !!!

hi odd shot

sorry i missed your post... its a new shorty that i got this summer

finish on all the visible parts was very good ... the barrel its self was just a tad out of index
had to replace the windage knob, it was not functional... got a garand part to replace it and it works very well now

it was well worth what i paid
