I have read through all the threads and reviews I could find about the Springfield Armory XDM 5.25 Comp and everyone seems to be a fan of them but most of the reviews are a couple or more years old. I am just curious how they are all holding up out there and if people are still happy with them. I held one for the first time this weekend and I have never had a pistol fit my hand as well as this pistol did, it was also one of the easiest pistols I have used for quick target acquisition as it seems to point so naturally at the target.

I am more than likely going to get one anyways but just looking for more feedback on them.

I am also curious if they offer interchangeable barrels for them so I could have 9mm/40SW/45acp on the same pistol.

I was always a huge fan of the SIG P226 but I was never 100% happy with the controls and grip and after a few 100 rounds I would feel the fatigue in my hand and I am a mechanic that uses my hands everyday but the SIG was flawless in its performance so I tolerated it. I don’t think this would be an issue with the XDM as I didn’t feel like I was reaching for anything it was just right were it should be for my hand.

sapper, were you able to maintain a tight grip on the XDM? The one time I shot an XDM I was relatively new to handguns, but the gun jumped in my hand on every shot so I found myself regripping between shots.

I only had that issue off hand shooting, which I always struggle with, but with my strong hand (right) I had no issues but I only used 2 mags of someone elses pistol. But it just seemed so natural for my right hand. I fired the 40SW.

I've had my XDM 9 for over a year now, I've run well over 3000 rounds through it and I haven't had a single problem with it. I personally shoot the P226 more accurately than my XDM, but as most of us know often certain guns work best for certain people.

I have fired 1000's of rounds through my 226 over several years with decent accuracy. Glock, ok accuracy also. Recently picked up an xdm... I was shooting WAY tighter groups right off the get go. Everyone will respond differently to each gun.

This is exactly the info I was looking for. I wanted to ensure it was as reliable as everyone said it to be and as any pistol results will vary from person to person. Like I said I was always a P226 fan boy but I wasn't 100% happy with it. Now time for me will tell if I will be 100% happy with the XDM or not.

Is there barrel/slide kits for the XDM to run multiple calibers on the same frame?

I'm curious as well. Read many good reviews.

Im curious, as I haven't spotted it in any videos yet, does the slide go into battery when held back and a fresh mag is firmly/quickly inserted?

I'd like to use this as another IPSC gun. I use an M&P40 for its lack of external safety, and that is slides home every time a fresh mag is inserted...great for shaving time

any other feed back is great too.

I have easily 5000 rounds outta mine and not one malfunction , just lube it sparingly, a friend of mine was pouring the lube to his and it gunked up every so often and the slide got sticky, once he backed off on the oilbath, everything was fine.

I have now owned an XDM .45ACP for about a year or so and love that gun. It is 4.5" barrel version, just a perfect size, it is however a bit sizeable gun since it's a 45 but very good fit. It came with 2 more different back straps to adjust to your hand. When I compare it with my Glock 22, it actually is very recoil friendly, 45ACP operates on much lower pressure( 21k psi ) compared to .40sw ( 35k psi ), so the kick is not as violent + little bigger and heavier gun so again it helps to absorb. Accuracy is ok, I shoot 180 gr lead round flat point which are not terribly accurate but the moment I put in decent jacketed ammo, it improves greatly. Reloading in 45 certainly helps, that way I don't destroy my budget.
