thank you very much for a swift reply.

If you or somebody else could answer my next question that would be much appreciated:

Is there a list somewhere of the current restricted/banned weapons in Canada?

my mistake guys, i meant to ask if it is BANNED.

also, has anyone here had experience with this weapon? It looks mean, sounds fun....

I heard swiss arms CQB is great and a friend is mentioning something by the name XCR to me. Opinions?

Ah, you're comparing some fairly different rifles there. The XCR is a full sized militar-esque rifle, the SA CQB is a short barrel carbine, and the M1A SOCOM is in a completely different calibre.

So, what exactly are you looking for in your rifle? It'll be alot easier to help match up what would suit you best if you told us what you were planning on doing with the rifle.

The socom II is not banned as far as I know. I got my socom II last year.

It's a great rifle to shoot the only thing is you can't hunt with it that is the only down fall I think.

I put a sage stock, Eotech site and a laser site on my socom and it looks very mean:D

The rifle is not banned.

If I could correct some terminology....call it a personal bugbear. The SOCOM II is a rifle or firearm, it is not a weapon. Call it symantics but when you have a discussion with someone who is anti firearms and you call it a weapon....you have already lost the argument....

Military and police have weapons....we as the law abiding members of society have firearms.... :)

Back to the SOCOM...nice rifle but personally I prefer the scout if you are going to go restricted with a Smith vortex direct connect FH....

Cheers

To clear this up, the refernce to the firearm as a weapon was not implicit.

I won't use this terminology in the future.

No worries...I just wanted to bring it up as a point of discussion...it was not a slap against you or anything...like I said, it is a personal bugbear...it just makes it hard to win arguments!

welcome to the board....Cheers
