springfield m1a 3rd generation scope mount question

good afternoon fella's. i was wondering if any one has put a 3rd gen mount on there m1a and not pinned the mounting block that replaces the stripper clip guide? wondering if it is at all important. i have it in my mounting block now but was thinking if i remove it it gives me more options on mounts. i no the recoil is pretty hard on mounts but wouldn't the dove tail and the 2 mounting screws (plus blue lock tight on screws) keep it secure? thanks in advance. regards
 
it's too simple NOT TO PIN it- if you don't the clip guide has a better chance of moving and it's easy enough to drive out the pin- i used a nail to do mine- about 2 whacks and a pair of vise grips and it was out
