With my RPAL about a month into processing I've been doing a lot of research into buying my first handgun. One that really caught my eye is the Springfield Operator.

However it seems like it is a very hard gun to come across, and I need some advice on the best/fastest way for me to acquire one. Are there any dealers that might get one in sometime, or anywhere I could special order?

Oh and a picture because its such a great looking firearm :D

Try Wolverine. You won't like the price of feeding .45 for your first handgun, though! Or do they come in 9 too?

You can try ordering one, but your PAL might be up for renewal before you get it broken in. You could buy one in the US from Gunbroker and have Prophet River bring it in for you. Or you could take a look at another 1911, that's similar, like a Colt Rail Gun, S&W 'E' Series etc.

I've contacted Wolverine to see what they say, but I've also looked into importing one through Prophet River or Irunguns. There are a few available on Gunbroker, so I guess its more a question of money rather than availability.

I did look at the Colt Railgun too, but from what I've read the fit and finish on the Springfield is better. Not to mention I wanted night sights, and after adding those to the Railgun the price is pretty close to the Operator.

I've asked Wolverine about bringing one of these in for me. They were reluctant to do it based on the wait time. I ended up buying the GI and sold it shortly after. I sold it because I was only really shooting my 9s, no other reason. Every once in a while I debate buying a Kimber Desert Warrior, but the thought of having to stockpile thousands of rounds for it kills the idea everytime.

Very hard to find pistols, especially in Canada. Definitely on my "want" list as well. Keep a close on EE, they pop up once in a while. I think there's a full rail TRP Operator for $1000 somewhere on EE right now. Prophet River and IrunGuns can help you import one from the US if you can find one from Gunbroker or another US retailer.

That reminds me, IrunGuns has a TRP Operator in country right now, but no rail.
