So I picked this pistol up probably a year ago and it has just been collecting dust.
It's a bit of an oddball being 9x21, and I read conflicting reports on if 9x19 works in it.

I have to admit I bought it without knowing much about it, but thought it would be fun to make into something.

Here are some pictures.

You can see the screw holes from the optics bracket (I do have the bracket still) and 4 of the screws are well in there, don't look broken off, but not really cut either.

And inside of the screws

It's got a comp trigger, and I think hammer, it's missing the firing pin. I covered the SN, not sure if it matters or not.

I'm not sure how to remove the barrel, I assume I would need to take the compensator off?

I have a welder friend that can weld the stainless. I'm not really sure what my plan is since it doesn't have a front sight, I feel like I might have to get the optic bracket back onto it.
I'll probably armacoat it, black slide, silver frame, black grips. But really open to anything at this point.

I think it's basically built by tangfolio, although I hear its a CZ75 clone. Gotta figure that out so I can get some parts I think. Needs a firing pin, and I think slide lock. And lots of tlc.
Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Most Tanfoglio parts will fit, you will need to use CZ hammer springs as the P9 used the full length spring which Tanfoglio changed in later years. Tanfoglio trigger and hammers, extractors, recoil springs, firing pins etc... work. You could have sights installed after some machine work, but adding an optic would be your easiest solution. That compensator looks familiar... I am thinking Rodger at Dark, I recall seeing some of his work and that looks like one of his compensators. You did mention you are missing the firing pin, if you are stuck, you can use a CZ75 firing pin, I use one in my P9. Sad part is 9x21 sucks because of the lack of available brass. Believe me I have two guns chambered in it. If there's anything else I can help you out with, by all means feel free. Good luck.

Order a TZ75 or TA90 barrel for it in 9mm,mag catch and a firing pin for it and you are golden .
It was a very high end pistol in its day. Yes it is a Tanfoglio pistol . CDNN here in the states sells a 41AE conversion kit for that one also, but 41AE is almost dead, and hard to find loaded ammo and even brass for.
I have a similar problem I have a Swiss made AT84S that I need a trigger spring and an ejector for . Some say TZ75 and TA90 parts fit but without seeing the part I need 1st,I would hate to purchase parts and them not fit.

I just did some reading in a CZ75/clone book that I have and your P9 is a Tanfoglio series 88 and it incorporates a patented automatic firing pin lock.Your pistol is a competition model known as the IPSC model, mentioned in the book that has a combat squared off trigger guard ,heavier slide, ported barrel, full length receiver rail, and a satin nickle finish. They came out by Springfield circa 1989.
Hope this helps....

I thought it was a factory compensator?.
Thanks for the info. I have like 200 pieces of 9x21 brass. But if a new barrel isn't that expensive I might switch it out.
Now I just have to find a place that has a cz75 firing pin.

The 41AE looks pretty neat actually. But man you are right finding components is tough. TA90 is the tanfoglio barrel right? And I would need the barrel, mag catch, and firing pin to make it 9mm, then my 9mm tanfoglio (or shadow) mags would fit too?

TA90 and TZ75 are both Tanfoglio models, imported by different importers. Correct on the magcatch. If your Tanfoglio mags are for the small frame then yes they will function,it is my understanding that 9x21 mags and 9X19 mags are interchangeable. You might try CZUSA for the firing pin.
