springfield xd question

hey i just bought an xd 9mm tactical and i was wondering its it safe to dry fire the gun , and should it be stored un cocked?

you have to dry fire to get the slide off

I have the same, only in a 45ACP....

i've had both the 45 and 9. over 6-7000 thru the 9 and lots of dry firing, no issues or breakage. Have fun, they're great shooters.

I have the XD40 and like already stated, safe to dry fire.
On another forum dedicated to the XD I have seen some that reported the striker retaining pin has cracked after alot of dry firing, but even so its an easy fix. Snap caps would eliminate any concerns you might have.
