I am new to the Restricted side of things but I have Been wondering how or who can help me. I want a Springfield XDM 3.8....I know its under the legal 106mm barrel but can I Purchase the gun and put an aftermarket barrel such as a threaded so that it is extended? Anyone have info on this or how i can go about doing it? I have found one on google that says extended barrel for canadian restrictions but they dont have any info on it.
I have come across a few Glock set ups such as the Glock 26 and 30 with extended barrels. Making them legal in canada so i would realy like to do this with the XDM or XD mod 2

You can't purchase it yourself. You have to order it thru a shop that has their prohib license.

Also, if it's outside Canada, forget about it ;)

If you have a friend that has prohib, he could get it, then a barrel, then bring it to a gunsmith/verifier so they can confirm it's now restricted, then call the CFO to have the details changed on the registration, then wait for the paper to return to you.

Now you can bring it to the range.

I recall one retailer bringing them in quite a few years ago. Maybe it was Saskatoon gunworks? I had a vague interest at the time before I saw god in all things Glock, but if I recall they said they wouldn't be doing another run as they just didn't sell as good as they hoped.
You could post a WTB ad on the EE and see if someone bites.

Aside from that, if you can find a legal length barrel and a gun for sale in the US, IRun can import it for you, however the cost would be rather high and you'd be better suited to just get a Glock 26 or Glock 43.

Would I be able to import the 3.8 without a barrel and change it to a legal length my self or is that a no because it didnt leave the manufacture that way?

No. You cannot change the legal status yourself ( AKA prohib to restricted ) Only a gunsmith can. Even without the barrel, the gun is a prohib.

If a restricted FRT exists, yes he can. Just contact your favorite cross border importer, say I run guns, to get you on the right track.
It will cost you more than it's worth as you'll have to pay for a legal barrel plus all the paperwork.
You cannot however just import the gun with no barrel.
