I would like to order a Spuhr unimount 4601 30mm or 4602 34mm. The gun that I will be installing it on is a Tikka with a picatinny rail and a heavy Palmer barrel the scope is a vortex razor 4.5x27-56 outside objective measurement is 73mm with lens cap. If anyone had a picture or insight into how this would work out please let me know? I would like to stay fairly close to the barrel with the scope but might end up going with a little heavier barrel in the future. Thanks

The radius of your scope objective with lens cap is 36.5mm (half the OD you provided). Which means the objective will extend down 36.5mm from the centreline of the mount/scope tube, which would be either 30mm or 38mm above the top of the rail for the mount heights listed. If you do some subtraction, for the 30mm height, the objective bell would be 6.5mm below the top of the rail (30mm - 36.5mm). The 38mm would be 1.5mm above the rail. If you place a straight edge on the rail and extend it out over the barrel, you'd know your rail height at the point the scope's objective should be sitting roughly and can measure the clearance between the straight edge and the barrel there to see how much clearance you'd have to play with. You'd need more than 6.5mm for the 30mm. If you run a scope coat, it would be good to have a little clearance for that too. I hope that's clear???

I'm sure Tom at Go Big Tactical could help you out no problem. He sells Spuhr's and is excellent to deal with.

Not a tikka, but could give you an idea,
My barrel is an M40 profile and clear it very well,
Very same scope you mentioned,
You could probably go lower if not in a chassis, only shared for a reference point,
It’s on a 20moa rail

Is yours r3x tac a1 with a long pictianny rail? If yes you may consider give up the lens cover.

In theory, the height of your scope on the SP-4602 should be enough. The mount is about 1.5inch(38mm)height. Your scope object Lens diameter is 56mm, give some buffer, your outer diameter would be about 62mm. Take it half that’s 31mm radius, from center of the scope/mount to the bottom of your scope. I checked from some manufacturers tech spec, include the scope cover, it would be 1.46inch max so you should be fine. Worst case, give up the cover.
