Good day all...
Who happens to have one of these game cams one of my buddy's have one he bought for fun and says its junk and I could have and use it..
500$ + camera and junk. ???
Hmm. Kinda different
Says it takes 100s of picture of just nothing and never catches anything ...
It does send pictures online and well for the past couple months he has got 100$+ bills for wireless and of nothing I'm told ...
So he told me to give it a try..
I'm planing on putting out at my bear bait spot see if I can catch anything but hoping it don't just take pictures of nothing too..
Any advice?

1) you must have cellular reception in the area you want to put the camera, or no pics will be sent

2) the spy point live has a 2.5/5 star rating on trailcam pro. Google brings up lots of issues people having also

3) covert code black 3g is still under review on that site, but is based on a camera that already gets 4/5 stars by previous review. The thought is that this will be the winner in affordable 3g cams

4) Reconyx 950 cellular is the benchmark in this category, but is around $1000

I think it is rogers wireless that has no contract unlimited text messaging sim cards for $15 per month, so this is getting more reasonable, $45 to monitor 3 months of hunting season. I do have an issue spending $300-$400 for something that could still be stolen, hopefully the thief would leave a good picture in your email. That was the main reason I looked into these, for pics of thieves as evidence. If these hit the $200 mark, I'd try one for sure

images are sent as MMS which is the same as text message

Also, if the camera is 5, 8 or 10 megapixel, the images texted are much smaller. The camera card retains the images at full size...

I feel this technology is ALMOST here for the everyday hunter. Prices will come down, companies will compete.

Bushnell entered the ring this year also, but still $$$

The "pictures of nothing" could be partly because of his cam placement. Try setting it North or South not East or West. Also keeping it off the ground a minimum of 4' with minimal vegetation (stuff that moves) in front of it.
