Where can I go plinking in Squamish outdoor? All research I have done says go up any FSR. Can anyone be more specific like GPS coordinates or directions off sea-to-sky?

Most forest service roads in the area will do. I do not have GPS coords for an exact spot. Look up in the Back Roads books for the FSRs for Squamish. Make sure that you go far enough up the road to get away from sub divisions etc. Be careful not to shoot towards the river as there are lots of fisherman out there right now. There will also be hunters out and about on the same roads as well so don't be shooting down the road as I saw some one doing recently. Make sure that you have a good back stop. Please bring your garbage out as a lot of people have been leaving their garbage out lately. Have fun and enjoy the day. PM sent.

we were just told yesterday by a rather misinformed CO (http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/976651-Lar15-help-asap!!!) at the "main'' shooting spot up the Mamquam that we were 10 km out of the city and that we could be fined for not being 13 miles out of the city ... be F-ing careful!! there are gung ho cops everywhere in the lower mainland these days! also print out some laws that may apply to you so you don't end up with your stuff seized like my mate here.

Presume we're talking about 9 mile here, and city limits used to end at the water tower, but then I thought the district recently changed the city limits to include the new run of river hydro thing they just finished building there. But since last year there have been signs AFTER the water tower but BEFORE you get to the bridge at 9 mile (maybe around the 12k marker) that say you're leaving the city limits. So that would suggest everywhere up to around the 12km mark is no go, but after that is ok - which would make 9 mile in the ok bit with that being around the 13/14 km mark. The GIS map on the squamish.ca site also shows the city limits as ending before the bridge at 9 mile too. I'm also not sure if there's a km and miles mix up here too, but what's the CO trying to say? Is it that that we need to be PAST the 13 km mark now because they've put that into city limits, or is he literally saying you need to be 13 km past the city limit sign?

Have a good look at the GIS maps on the provincial webpage. The main spot off of mamquam fsr by the water tower(spot is actually on alpen mountain spur)is inside the district boundaries......but if you look closely to the map the other side of alpen spur road (east side) or the southern end of the clear cut(heading uphill) are outside of the district and ok to shoot.( the district boundaries are basically the road surrounding the spot on eastern and south side, so as long as you are on the other side of the alpen spur road your fine) Now all you have to do is deal with Simon the local CO who likes to think he knows everything.

*IF* you are shooting up the Mamquam FSR, then you have to be past the last Bridge.. 15km mark, aka 10 mile. You see the "You are leaving squamish" sign just before it. *IF* you are caught shooting at the Water tower, it is a $350. fine, plus they will seize your weapons. I was talking to the CO's last summer up there, when they were "talking" to a bunch of shooters, and there are signs all over the place that say "no shooting in this area".

Saturday Feb 20th, there were 3 Co's on Quads checking PAL's as well.

Since this thread has been brought back I’ll chime in. Listen to this guy ^^^^^^

You absolutely MUST be past the sign that says you are leaving the Squamish District. See below for the exact Squamish boundary (you’re looking at the circled location on the right). Now none of you kids have any excuse to get busted. I continuously see many people shooting at that damn water tower. Each time I’m tempted to pull up and let them know what’s up but I just can’t bring myself to waste my time.
