I have a question regarding this Dillon press.
I may be able to buy this press in 9mm set up,
however I would like to reload for .40 S&W.

Can I change the set up and what parts do I need?
Where can I get it?
Is it worth it to change over or better to buy new one?

I know those are newbie questions, I have started shooting
IPSC few months ago, and already have spend too much then I supposed to.
I need progressive press to speed up loading and can not afford 650 yet.

Thanks for any comments,

Peter

I own a square deal, and I think it is a great unit for loading with... mine has calibre conversions for 9mm, 40 S&W, and 38 spl. I have one spare toolhead, so the two most common calibres I load for are all set up, just have to unscrew 4 allen bolts, change the index plate and locator buttons, and reset the powder measure, and I am off to the races. I bought one of my calibre conversions new from TSE (about $95 IIRC) and my spare toolhead (about $45 or so) I bought the other conversion used off the board, but they don't come up often. I recommend Dillon direct, unless you happen to be at the shop of a stocking dealer and the stuff is there in the display case.

If you don't have a second toolhead, it takes a lot longer because you have to reset all your dies every time, but nothing that pre planning can't accomodate. Just unscrew the dies from calibre A, then screw in the dies from calibre B, the manual explains it really well, and if you get stuck, just call dillon and they will help you out!

Peter I sell them and the manuals are on our site as are prices.....

You buy the press and you can either buy a second toolhead or a complete quickchange.. The difference is that the quickchange has a powder measure so you don't need to mess with the powder setup.. It's a pain when you using different powders.. Not such a big deal if you are using the same powder just have to do a bit of setup...

Dillon SD are great reloaders. However, what I dont like about it is that you can not use a differend brand of die, but only Dillon SD dies. Dillon SD does not use the standard 7/8" x 14 dies.
My 2-cents worth of opinion. :) :)
