Squires Bingham M16

Unless it was *just now changed* it's non-restricted & not listed. Helped a friend get hers classed back to non-restricted last year (was originally her husband's gun, now widowed). Was incorrectly classed as restricted by an over-zealous police officer acting verifier when the LGR first came out. Her' s was the M16 "paratroop model" with the collapsible stock. She wanted to let her daughter use it for bird hunting once she found out it was incorrectly registered at the time. Paperwork submitted June 2020, reclassed as non-restricted in August . No issue.

The word variant leaves a huge hole for interpretation that's my concern ie selling at a gunshow etc.The model you refer to is the M16R
 
Had to bring mine to cop shop back around 1998-99 to have it 'adjudicated' on. Lots of confusion back then (and apparently still!) about all the newly imposed laws. The Hamilton FO measured the barrel and pointed out the brake wasn't included then checked some 'list' and handed it back saying it was exempt. Sure was odd walking in and out of Central Station with a rifle. I could feel the eyes of each cop tracking my every step.
 
Those are odd, yet, strangely kool at the same time. I have one of the Para Trooper stocks' only laying around, I guess for some Future' project.

Had a buddy who couldn't put a pistol case on his motorcycle so he had a permit for a visible shoulder holster to and from the range.That turned heads along with his black lab that rode on the seat behind him wearing WW1 aviator leather hat with googles.

Ahh, good to know. I was thinking to Mod. it to fit another .22 I have with no stock. I think an AR-7 drops right into it as well. A long time ago, I had a really Unique Squires Bingham .22, it had a full shroud barrel, like the Pietta PPS 50's. {Copy.ish of PPSh-41} This was one of my first rifles I found at a Gun Show, & never seen another like it since.. & have been looking - Who ever I sold it too...Dibs on first Buy Back Please! ;)
 
I have the M16 R version with retractable stock. It never was classified as restricted as far as I know.Even when we still had the long gun registry it was classified as non-restricted.
