Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else with a SR-15 has a improperly index flash surpressor? Coming from KAC, you think the QC would have been better.

I'll post up some pics tonight.

Wow. That's way off. Need to get a new crush washer OR simply get a Vortex and forget about indexing altogether!

A bit off topic, but is that gas block held in place by set screws? I thought they were pinned to the barrel. Never owned one myself but I guess I just assumed.

Where did you get the upper? Was this purchased from us as a complete rifle or purchased used from someone as an upper half?

If this was purchased as an upper from someone then you're just assuming it came that way from Knights... who's to say that the flash hider wasn't removed by someone before you got it and not indexed properly when they re-installed it?

The point is that it might not have anything to do with KAC or their QC.

What is the history of the upper?

I bought it from a very reputable person on here who said it was NIB. He stated it was never fired and he never noticed that the FH wasnt indexed properly.

I'm not going to out him on this thread though. If he wants to chime in or PM me, thats up to him.

I think I know who.
And if it's the person I'm thinking of, he is very reputable.

Either way, it's not typical with what I've seen.

Sinasta purchased the upper from me, and I took the upper off a brand new rifle, I did not notice that the flash-suppressor was not mounted properly, my reason for selling it in the first place was the fact that I had another KAC upper that had the triple tap on it already, and it was just money burning a hole in my pocket sitting in my spare parts bin.

Am I the only one who sees Mt Everest being made out of a molehill here? That is a crush washer. Get yourself a wrench and tighten the FH a wee bit till it is indexed properly. Problem solved in less time than it takes to write this.

Have we really turned into a nation of useless whiners who can't do anything for ourselves and complain incessantly about every minor perceived problem?? :(

Pressed on and then set-screwed for our commercial guns. Not my favorite method, but its a ##### to get on and off, and I've shot them even without the set screws and they have not shifted.

FH is wrong, and it never should have left that way, but its an easy fix, if you where not in Canada, we would offer to fix it, but Suputin is correct, a wrench will solve that.

Yeah I was wondering what the drama was over as well.

Like you said, it is a easy fix. But I shouldnt have to do it coming from a high end if not highest end AR manufacturer. Things like this would be expected from a Norc M4 or some other lower end company.
