I've done a google search and it appears that the softer barrels are less accurate and maybe wear out faster. How much less accurate and how much faster do they wear out. And will these fit on a 10 22?tLooking at Dlask stainless steel and Irunguns aluminum , both are 16 1/2 inches. Any opinions on this please and thanks. Also it's just for target shooting.

The aluminum barrel has a steel liner. It should last just as long as an all-steel barrel.
I have a Dlask 16.5" and a Tac-Sol 16.5". The Tac-Sol is at least a pound lighter. Both shoot about the same with a SLIGHT edge to the Dlask barrel (so far..........only tried 2 different brands of ammo in them).

.22LR generally speaking, with proper barrel care its pretty much impossible for one person to shoot out their barrel. The aluminium and carbon fibre wrapped barrels are going to me much lighter with the same profile when compared to a full steel barrel. So if you're going to be walking with and shooting the rifle off-hand then you might want to consider the sleeved barrels or a lighter profile barrel. That said the heavier full steel barrels tend to be a bit more accurate but not by enough for the average shooter tell the differences between, and considering its going in a 10/22 the platform is most likely going to be the limiting factor in accuracy and not the barrel to begin with. A SR-22 with a full steel barrel tends to weigh a decent amount from experience, I lightened mine up by going with a shorter hand-guard and a 12.5 inch barrel, balances much more nicely now. Really it depends on intended use for which barrel you go with.

that said, I just had an email exchange with Dlask and they said they should have a full complement of SR-22 & 10/22 barrels available in about 2 or 3 weeks. they don't take pre-orders, I asked, so watch like a hawk!

anyone know of anywhere I can get a compensator that looks like the Tactical Innovations, but have the same diameter as the stock barrel?

Target shooting mostly, I just like the look of the aluminum one. If my receiver is aluminum, can I remove the black paint, or is it called anodizing? Just wondering if this is a possibility and would it hurt the function of the rifle?

You could sand blast the anodizing off pretty easily one would figure. Taking the anodizing off the rifle shouldn't affect any function of the rifle.

I just finished putting a 10/22 together.
Blue Boyds thumbhole stock, blue Tac-Sol barrel. I used Aircraft stripper to remove the factory "crinkle" finish on the receiver. About 1 hour to sand the machining marks out of the receiver (started with 220 grit, finished with 600 grit). 20 minutes with some aluminum mag wheel polish and it looks OK now

Really nice job!

I have ordered the Nordic 1022 kit and and 3 inch flash hider. I am going with the 16 1/2 inch tec sol aluminum barrel and was wondering how much barrel extends out past receiver? Reason why is : I can get either 9 or 12 inch forend from Nordic and was wondering what looked better ? Keeping in mind that the flash hider is 3 1/2 long.

Well, you have 19 inches of barrel including the flash hider as there will be about a half inch of threads for the flash hider to attach too. A stock SR-22 barrel with the stock flash hider is right about 17.75 inches, and comes with a 9 inch hand-guard to give you a visual reference. If I were you I'd go with the 9 inch hand guard as its going to be lighter anyway, and if you ever decide to change the flash hider or run without one, it won't look silly like it would with the 12 inch hand guard.

I ordered an 18" stainless Mcgowen barrel from Mystic a few weeks ao. Have seen them on other SR22s and it looked right to me. Since I'm pretty much always bench rest the weight doesn't worry me.
