hi guys,

Im planning to change my sr22 barrel, with an aluminium tactical solution bull barrel. My question is, can i fit the original bigger sr22 barrel into a regular 10 22 rifle.. like the carbine version (for exemple).

Will it fit the carbine stock or will i be forced to change my stock to something bigger ?

Thank you very much for your help

The barrel will fit the receiver no problem. But the barrel channel may pose an issue. Iirc ... The oem 1022 barrel is 720 and the sr22 barrel is 750. You may need to take out some material from the barrel channel for it to fit

the stock 10/22 barrel is also tapered so the carbine stock will require a lot of work to make it fit the sr-22 barrel. Maybe buy a new stock for your 10/22? The troy chassis should work.

It's very simple to put your sr22 barrel into your standard stick, very little material needs to be removed. I gave my sr barrel to a co worker and it only took about 5 mins to fit it nicely.

You will probably have to wrap some sandpaper around a dowel or long socket and sand out the barrel channel to fit the larger barrel.

Easy work, it will slide right into your reciever and you wont need to take much out of the barrel channel to get it to fit. As mentioned wrap some sandpaper around a dowel or socket and open it up. Go slow and stop to check your work often. Remember the 10/22 is pressure bedded, for best accuracy leave the last inch or 2 of the forend touching the barrel and free float back to the v-block or so. A nice bedding job followed by shimming the forend tip to tune the up-pressure will dial in the accuracy very nicely. Oh and post pics when youre done, I thought about doing this last year but havent got around to it yet.

Do you have your SR22 yet?

You may just want to live with it the way it is before modifying it, you're going to blow through a lot of money if you rush into everything, slow down. Just some friendly advice.

haha +1 on this! I got really excited when I first got my sr-22 and blew over $600 on goodies alone! But I regret nothing!

btw my pal exam is in 2 day, this weekend.

I read all of your threads before even thinking of getting goodies.. and you make great salesman with unlimited source of information

So far without exam or any pal.. i bought...

1x Synthetic Ruger 10/22 stainless steel barel
1x Ruger SR-22
1x Butler Creek 25 mag
1x Tactical Inc aluminium mag
2x Dlask Rail top and bottom for the SR
1x Vortex Sparc
2x Butler Creek Flip-open covers #4 for the sparc

Am I nutz.. yeah, and I can live easily with that fact .. I already regret nothing, as long as I dont fail the exam this weekend.. haha

The excitement and the hellish waiting time costed me that money.. too much time on my hand and not enough firearm action!

to my defence, i had no choice.. i was forced to buy new toys.. the SR-22 got no sights and Brownells was out of stock on Jedi Aim Force. Red dot done! Now backup USA MBUS Gen2.. thats a good excuse right ? :D

i like this guy and the way he works. within an hour of my deal being done for a sr22 off of the EE i was already on the road out to dlask(im only 30 minute drive) to grab a 12.5" bb, quad rail kit and some other goodies, nothing like being prepared, having the rifle and then having to wait for all the goodies is painful. and good luck on your test

Yea....but

Sure you need to buy sights for the SR22, but to upgrade to a Tactical Solutions barrel before firing a single shot, seems like getting way ahead.

The $250+ spent on the barrel upgrade could pay for part or all of a 12 gauge.

On the hand, I'm the kind of guy who waits a little too long, only to find out that what I wanted is sold out. So go nutz! All the best.
