How do I get the big threaded nut off of the nordic front piece without wrecking it?? Do I need a special tool?

Or does anyone now if the Dlask SR-22 Hand Guard is threaded the same?

Thanks!

Which way does the the locking ring turn to remove the hand guard if I am looking at it from the barrel end?

Clockwise ... counter clockwise?

I am swapping out my OEM one with a new shorter hand guard & rail set up from Dlask. And I am having trouble taking it apart. SO ... before I go and start bashing on it, I better know that I am doing it right :p :D

Ring would go clock wise as you are looking at it from the muzzle. Tube counter clockwise. I suggest you remove the assembly from the rifle vie the two big bolts on the front at the bottom, might make it easier to handle!

I have the sr22 and have not tried to remove mine but have a friend who has (he is not a smith but is very very good) and had an incredibly hard time removing his. Good luck and let us know if you managed ok. Maybe with some tips of how you did it.
Thanks

That was fast, thanks.

Taking off the front end from the rifle was the first thing I did, I just couldn't tell if I was loosening or tightening it. It's on there pretty good.

They use blue threadlock at the factory, so hitting it with a heat gun or a torch first on the inside of the barrel nut will loosen the threadlock enough to allow you to spin the tube off with a strap wrench.

Two whacks with a punch and mallet and it came off no problem .. thanks for info gents!

Now I just have to wait for my new goodies to come in from Dlask and I'll slap it all back together.

Use a torch to break down the thread lock.
I used a strap wrench and turned counter clockwise.

A strap wrench eh?

I was just wondering about the best tool to use. The inside of the nut has 4 rounded notches and thought maybe I need something I don't have to get it off.

Thanks!

I put mine in a vise and used the end of a large crecent wrench to get in two of those notches along with another crecent wrench (to turn it) and a blow torch to heat up and it came free quite easily. Don't tighten it too much in the vise and wrap it with a cloth so you don't damage it.

even after heating with a torch, it was still being stubborn. I did put it in a vice and took a pipe wrench to the nut and it came off with some applied force and couple swear words to boot. Wrecked the threads on the nut but I didn't need it anyways.

Thanks for the tips peeps!
