SR22 Build ( Update 13th April)

So This is what I have in mind, So please give your input...

Yesterday I bought a SR22 (440$ on sale @ wholesale sports )... So this is what Im thinking I want to set this thing up as close to my AR as possible...

- Dlask 12.5 Bull Barrel
- Dlask Re-worked Levang Compensator
- Dlask 4 rail kit
- Magpul Angled Fore Grip 2, Black
- Magpul MBUS Front Back-Up Sight, Gen 2
- Magpul MBUS Rear Back-Up Sight, Gen 2
- Magpul CTR Stock, Black
- Vortex SPARC
- Magpul MS2 Sling

I need some input on the Adjustable V-Block and the Barrel Support Block ...

I did some research on the Barrel Support Block and most people say its useless and you get better grouping without it... But I get alot of conflicting info in the adjustable V block...

I have the .920 barel support in 2 of my builds and the barrel dosnt even touch it, I think its a waste of time personaly free floating has been the goal of bench shooters forever
 
I have a 12.5" dlask in an archangel kit, completely free floated. No issues at all and shoots very well. If it was mine, I'd scrap the block. ;)
 
Ok sounds good I wont order the V-block and the support... Just saved myself some money....

Well placed my order with Dlask for the comp barrel and rail kit...

Sold my factory barrel... and now im just waiting for my stuff... This SR22 project cost way to much allready... Still not sure on the Vortex Sparc is there anything else I could run that won't interfere with my magpul sights ?

As long as your not planning on putting on a scope, most RDS will not interfere with the back up sights. Unless of course you are going to place it in the most rearward position on the rail. Typically that is where the mbus will sit, and almost all RDS will co-witness well with them.

The rear can be adjusted by hand, and the front comes with it's own tool, but can be adjusted with any AR front sight wrench.
 
Thanks man. Wasnt sure. Just got my mbus yesterday and thought that they should come with a tool for the front sight. Pretty sure i can just use needle nose pliers for now.

Dilligaf,
A couple additional things you may consider from my exp..
-alternate charging handle (many to choose from, I find the stock 10/22 one is a little small to get the meat of my fingers around)
-auto bolt release (or else modify the one you've got)
-I've got the 4-rail kit from dlask, and it adds unnecessary weight to the front end - maybe get short rails on the sides/bottom.
-I'm thinking of swapping out my AFG with one of the new magpul XTM Handstop kits.. looks pretty cool and more useful given the way I like to hold a rifle.

Check out the oversized charging handle that Brownells carries. I think Bit's of Pieces has them as well.

They look way better than the skeleton style and are even easy to grab with big gloves on.

I have the 4 rails from Dlask and I love the weight, but I'm a big dude. Check out the rails from Iron Eagle as well. They are pretty sweet (not to mention all the other stuff they carry . . .PLUS free shipping to Canada.)
 
I am doing almost the same as you except I am looking for a Stainless steel barrel with black flash hider/ compensator. I like the slight touch of stainless steel look.

Are you going 920 barrel? Why 12.5" instead of 16"?

I am undecided on the length currently. I have a red dot but opted for scope instead. Recommend trying the promag 9/22 mags with the MP5 Sleeves. Looks more "AR" ish then the banana clips.

I might also do an extended stainless steel charging handle if I can find one.

I Got the 12.5 Barrel to match my AR in look ... This .22 is to save me money in ammo...

I hope DLASK ships me my stuff soon... im on week 6 of waiting...

I hate the promags ... I only run BC steel lips....

Free float works on some of the SR's and on others not so well. Has something to do with the fit between the tenon and the receiver being so loose on some of them, you can throw the barrel into it from across the room.
 
you bought a Sr22 new for 440?! Damn! Cheapest i've seen is 520.. If anyone knows where I can get one for 440 please don't hesitate to share
