Hey all,

Just thought I would bounce this off you all and see what you would think. I have been toying with the idea to maybe find someone to make a prototype Scope Rail to replace the current setup on the Nordic Chassis system that Ruger uses on their SR22. It would involve redesigning the scope rail into something better. I have read comments on how the current design makes any accessories sit to high over the bore (scopes, sights etc). And the thoughts I had rattling through my head may end all that.

So I came up with the idea (may not be original) to change the way it is constructed.

The cap itself would have to be remolded/programmed and recast/cnc'd to get rid of the unnecessary space between the receiver and the rail, essentially lowering the rail by about 1/2", also knocking off that extension that ride over the back half of the lower receiver. And to make it a item that most would want, I tossed in the idea of giving it the "monolithic" rail for a all in one, one piece solid design.

Please forgive my description and explanation, I am not an engineer .. . I photoshopped a couple pics to help explain my thoughts that were rattling around.

This is what it would look like ...

This is the way I could look on a full size SR22 ...

This is the way I would want it to look using a shorter hand guard such as the one designed by Dlask ...

The front rail would attach itself to the existing holes that are premade on say a Dlask set up or on the OEM hand guard provided by the Nordic hardware. I do understand in such circumstances, bulk runs would be better because of cost. And I believe that if such a undertaking was to be made, there could be a market for such and item. It would certainly give competition to companies such as Troy, Nordic. And maybe even boost sales of Ruger products for those sponsors who sell them. And by no mean am I myself capable of fabricating this or I'd be all over it :D

So what do you all think? Am I reaching, or do think it is possible if I found someone to actually make one and could there be a market for such an item?

Any input is appreciated.

Your not thinking about cheek weld though man. You need the scope to be high on the SR or any AR variant because of the "straight line" stock. Optimum is about one inch above the rail I find.

1/2" drop won't make much a of a difference to tell you the truth. You would still have the height to be able to properly see thru the scope/irons to be able to shoot.

As nice as it is, it's not for me. The whole idea behind this was to give something to "nordic chassis" owners.
