I can get 4 old half pound tins of SR4756, can I use this to load with cast in .303 British or 7.62x54?

I looked in Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 4th Edition - multiple listings for 303 British with cast bullets and SR4759 powder - is not the powder that you are asking about. I seem to recall that SR4759 was for reduced loads in rifles - and the SR4756 had some success in pistol cartridges and some shotgun loadings - like 9mm, 20 gauge, etc. But, is NOT the same powder, despite the names / numbers being similar.

Its the 4756 i can get, guy used it for shotgun. Maybe i shoiud pass.

I used it for 20 ga 1 oz shotgun loads, I doubt it's any good for rifle powder.

At one time it had some popularity for high velocity loads in .38 Special. Today I find it most useful for 2 7/8” ten gauge loads.

In my old copy of the "Propellant Profiles" 2nd edition book there is listing for 25-06, 270, 308,and 30-30

Well, 4756 is slower than 700X & Unique and I’ve used both of those in reduced cast loads. You may have to look up some data on the net
but I’m sure you should be able to get serviceable loads.

I think it is a flake powder, similar in speed to Unique.

If so, it would be very good for mid-velocity lead rifle bullets.
