Hey everyone, came across a loading tool with a single lightning bolt on it, no other markings, I know the SS marked some of their weapons this way. I have no way of knowing if it's genuine, just curious as to any possible value it may have bearing in mind that it could be real or faked. Is there other markings that would indicate if is legit? Thanks.

I'm not sure, I know it looks like the standard loading tools I've seen, the narrow end is almost shaped like a flat screwdriver. It came with an old Luger I bought a year ago but I never really looked closely at it until now.

His tool could be an old Imperial era tool with the remnants of an Imperial inspectors stamp. As far as bearing an SS rune not a chance in hell that it would be a legit acceptance stamp. Imperial letter S comes to mind

I’ve seen his loading tool, and do not think it’s legit, but have not seen another either.
Only time I’ve seen this exact marking is from steyr rifles in 43/44 when they were building an Army contract and an SS contract. Parts from the same source were differentiated with this single rune. But by this point the Luger was not being made so a special run of loading tools seems odd to me.
It is however a marking that is often faked on 98k.....

death head lugers-- AKA Totenkoff insignia is also in my opinion all faked as found on some Po8,s Have learned to keep an open mind regarding acceptance stamps but these one of a kind items raise a red flag. One would think many more should have surfaced over time. Trouble is not a lot of documentation on the yrs prior to Hitlers rise to power. The Friekorps units branded many of their own arms and accoutrements but a luger tool would be a stretch.

The old documentaries of the Imperial era show many crudely applied death head insignia and other Germanic runes prior to the establishment of the RZM controlled insignia.
