I’m going to be parting with my personal SSD BD42 Model 1. It is non restricted, semi auto and 8mm Mauser. It comes with 3 mags, the scope mount, rings, manual and the original box. The firearm is in great condition. Only 11 of these came into Canada. $11,500.

Question about the SSD BD42. Does it have the original shoulder chamfer in the chamber to regulate gas pressure? Or is it like the SMG's version with a standard cut chamber?

While I didn't shoot Ryan's, I did once get to shoot one of the other BD42s that came in at the same time, and it did not have the blown-out chamber.

can it run belts?

No.

They have the shoulder chamfer in the chamber like the original FG42's. Dittrich tried to be as close as possible to the original design when he build those guns.

Does this mean they partially rely on the brass sealing the chamber while pressure drops, like the originals? I'm not familiar with the SSD models, but had done some looking into the SMG repros that are made in USA. They found a way to tweak the materials and components of the system to be able to move to a standard cut chamber without concern of ejecting under high chamber pressure.

Yes, that's correct. The case walls are nearly parallel after firing and seal and also slow down a bit the action, however it cycles still very fast and I don't think he got it 100% right. The SSD FG's are very sensitive to the ammo and usually work only properly with brass cased 198grs FMJ loaded to milspec.

Or, there's this one. The good news: (1) the "magazine" is just a box that holds a belt, and belts aren't limited to 5 rd;(2) I might be persuaded to sell it, probably for a lot less than $12 500.
The bad news: it's a CA, so unless you've already jumped through all the hoops, you can't buy it.
