Don't know where to post this as its a WWII rifle but obviously NOT milsurp.

Anyone know where I can pick up an SSD G43? They look beautiful and would compliment my JRA K98K nicely.

Just FYI, I did check with marstar and they said they don't import them anymore.

Does anyone know if these rifles had any issues?

Thanks but I'll hold off. Used only means lack of product support. I guess this will just be one of those rifles I won't own.

ha: in most cases in canada, when you buy any firearm, you are the product support. :puke:

Edit: not to mention most milsurps were built to last. unlike the new products built today.

Besides, SSD product support was non-existent when they were available new! I used to keep my SSD BD-44 going with original MP44 parts, as required. Until I sold it to someone who wanted it more than I did. Was cool while it lasted.

Product support for an SSD product!?!!?! Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!! ;)

Ask John from Marstar or John from Wolverine Supplies about product support from SSD...

Btw: the only SSD products that made it to Canada were:

- SSD BD-3008 (Gerät Neumunster)
- SSD BD-38 (MP-38)
- SSD BD-42H (Mkb42(H))
- SSD BD-44 (StG44)
- SSD BD-42 (FG-42 Type 1)

The "BD" designation stands for the company and product creator "Bernd Dittrich". A brilliant guy who created some nifty products, but he, or the company he used to heat treat the steel were morons... Also, a complete lack of business acumen. SSD is on its 3rd or 4th shell company now...

And the Gerät Neumunster and the MP-38 copies were reclassified as prohibited and all privately owned ones were confiscated except for 1 or 2 that were deactivated or turned into parts kits and the few left in dealers hands.... I'm still sad about my BD38.... :(

Is this a joke post?

None of the SSD G43's were ever imported into Canada - at least not with a valid FRT and you can get an original G/K43 for less that the SSD pricing.

Secondly, SSD does not even exist by name anymore - they still make guns under a 3rd party name. Yes they have gone out of business and re-invented themselves at least three times and counting.

I have contacted the newest re-invented name of SSD and they will NOT import to Canada. They have given North American rights to a US dealer that has no interest in exporting to Canada.

And as far as naming rights…ask Marstar and Wolverine how well that went for them!

JRA (James River Armory) - They force match the K98's serial numbers just like Mitchell's Mausers. It's just not collectable when it's been humped by Bubba.
I guess "Pretty" is more important to some than any other reason to buy a rifle???
