SSD Sturmgewehr BD44 MP43/44 Semi Auto Replica in 7.92X33 Kurz Sold For $20000 USD

I remember when these first came out. I was seriously thinking about buying one. The "Decorating Committee" in my house decided that the financial requirements of a new home and toddlers took priority over a new gun.

The SSD rifles were pieces of junk. I owned 2 of the MP 44's. Both were jam o matics and suffered a major parts breakage.
Went back for return and refund.
Why anyone would pay that kind of coin for something that barely fires is crazy.

Mine work great although some guys have problems I have heard.
You must have got some bad heat treated parts from the factory.

The reproduction of the exterior was brilliant,I would not be surprised if it was done on the original molds, the internals were a disaster, on mine they either broke or simply wore out, of course no help at all from Marstar or SSD.
After lot of searching on ebay, Gunbroker etc I managed to find just about all the internals, bolt, extractor, bolt carrier with gas piston, hammer and sear and replaced all the SSD junk.
Now it shoots like a champ, but it works best with the original WWII magazines (which I purchased from Marstar before the price went through the roof), the aftermarket SSD mags needed some mods to make them at least somewhat reliable.

The one I had for a while, same thing - I basically replaced almost everything but the receiver with original MP44 parts, including a laminate stock - that all made a massive difference in reliability.

I wasn't optimistic that the parts needed would even be availble to try to improve the SSD POS. Especially since there are no guarantees that it would make a difference.
For the price, any firearm should work out of the box.

Very sad...really wanted one that worked :(
