I have a few leftover shotshells that I purchased back in the '60's/'70's for deer hunting. They are high brass Remingtons with SSG stamped on the plastic hulls. Can anyone tell me how many pellets are in these and how the size compares to 00 or 000 buck?

.... SSG were/are a common issue RCMP Shotgun "Load" and from memory, something like 12, .32 cal pellets. Sometimes also, seen as an issue round, 00 Buck. ..... David K. ...

SSG is a Brit shot size designation. The American designation is #2 Buck. The pellets are .31" diameter. Although some shot size charts say .27". There's 18 of 'em in a 2.75" shotshell depending on which chart you read. Some say 15 pellets per ounce.
00 buck has .33" pellets, 000 buck is .36".
Buckshot is useless for deer. It's not reliable enough.
