Looking for links to good hand gaurds for my stag build that don't cost an arm and a leg. Any suggestions? Was thinking there just be something in the $200 range. The only Canadian source I have found is CTCS and their offerings are all in the $450 plus range.
Thanks !

Got my MI from Brownells w*w*w.brownells.com/rifle-parts/forend-amp-handguard-parts/handguards-amp-rails/308-ss-handguard-15-m-lok-dpms-high-sku
Just wait for a sale! Got it for 169$ US shipped

Had MI and SLR , both are good
MI costs less at about $250 all in ,cad from Brownells.
Don’t think you’re finding much cheaper than the MI from Brownells.

Well maybe Spectre got some Chinese handguards for a bit cheaper, but then again you get what you pay for .. ha ha

Anyone install the Odin O2 Lite yet? I have one sitting here for the Stag 10 and I have another for my modern Sporter.

I've got one on my stag 10. Looks good and easy install. I'll try to throw up a pic when Photobucket stops malfunctioning.

Awesome thanks. I was mostly curious about the install since I had to file a small bit off the inside of the handguard for the MDI SLR. Good news though as I'd rather not file anything and the install was super easy otherwise.
Just waiting on my IBI barrel and reciever set from IRG.

Yep, I have one. The retaining compound they included must have been old because it was a disaster. Used Rocksett and install was pretty straightforward.

Built up from a receiver set, as yet unfired:

Balances really well, not that heavy.

And the thermal dissipator is meant to help with barrel cooling. Made a hell of a mess with silver thermal paste since the JP part comes bare.

Looks good.
Who makes the dissipator?(nevermind I see specs in the other thread...JP) POF uses an oversized barrel nut that has similar heat fins. I assume that was a package with the barrel or you had to match up diameters. I haven't played with thermal paste since building PCs with high end cards and heat sinks.
Is that a 20" barrel then?
I am just waiting on my 19" IBI barrel.
I threw the lock tite they sent in the garbage when building my SLR with the 15.5" Odin O2 Lite and just used Aeroshell 33.

I just used Aeroshell too no locktite. Jp supermatch barrels have an area designed for one of their thermal dissipators. Mine is a 20 inch barrel and 17.5 inch O2 lite

Looks like we're going for a similar build. Didn't think you had to use thermal paste on the dissipator?

I don't think it's required, but back in the day (ha) it was the cool thing to do on your overclocked PC. The machining on the JP barrels is pretty nice, so I doubt it's required. Made a hell of a mess, in retrospect I wouldn't recommend it.

We are twinsies. I may just have to get a JP 6mm Creedmoor barrel after all.... Sigh.

It's the 20" barrel. If you are thinking of a JP, do yourself a favour and check their clearance tab under barrels. I got mine with HP bolt and pin for a little more than list imported through the importer who shall go unnamed (PM for details). Brownells can get you the JP (yes it's matched, but a pretty standard .750) dissipator for a (regular, not XL) rifle length medium contour barrel. They special order and you can get any of the colours offered by JP. If I get the 6mm Creedmoor XL barrel I would definitely want the longer dissipator for PRS type shoots.

Had the gas block slip on my during break in today. Never had that happen before, so I cranked it on (set screw style) a bit more. With a .920 gas block dia I'm not worried about pinching the barrel bore.
