Have a stag 10 build on the go...NEWBIE...Faxon 20" pencil barrel and PSA P10 nitride BCG....how important is head space check on these 2 components? I read the faxom is done well but not sure...as I said, new at this. Might be one time build and have not found a quick source for go nogo gauges. Also have a question about how much barrel torque on an aim sports barrel nut for the faxon barrel.

very important as the "ar-10" standards, well, they're not standard.

Get the headspace checked.

For a 556 ar15, 99% of the time these arent required as there is a standard... not su much for its larger brother.

Some fine folks here might be friendly enough to send you their gauges for you to check (if you pay for the 2 way postage though).

Ask around at your local gun range, some might have gauges with them. I always bring mine when I go to the range.

There’s no reason not to have it checked, and I’ll never say otherwise but I didn’t check mine with it’s BA barrel and Lantac bolt.
I’ve had all my AR’s checked and every single one has always passed.

Headspace cannot be adjusted so your barrel and bolt are either built correctly or incorrectly and if you’ve purchased your parts made by a reputable company like faxon, who have built #### for NASA and other aerospace companies, you’re more than likely good to go. But again, it’s your pecker on the line not mine so it’s entirely your call.

Where in BC are you, if you are on Vancouver island I have the go, no go gauges in 308. If close enough I can help you with taking the bolt apart and checking head space or I can mail you them.
